I have fielded a few questions lately about why can't the site do this trick or why doesn't it have that feature. The answer is usually pretty simple: I didn't think to add the feature, but that is usually not a problem because you should be able to add the feature to your site.
Here are a few of the questions I have received.
I built Author Website in a Box using a WordPress theme and WordPress plugins. Everything in the site is standard off the shelf software, which means you can change the site's look by changing the theme, or add features by installing plugins.
Author Website in a Box is built on the SiteOrigin Corp theme.
I used SiteOrigin's pagebuilder tool to design and build each page. This tool is included, and you can use it to modify my work or build a page from scratch.
The bookshelf pages and the individual book pages were created by the Novelist plugin. This plugin supports buy buttons, sorting bookshelf pages by genre and series. If you write in several genres, you can display each genre on a different row or page.
You can add your books simply by putting in the info like the title and description, and uploading a cover image. Novelist will take the data and build a page for each book.
I build, fix, and host WordPress websites. Contact me and we can discuss how I can help you.
As I mentioned above, I like PeoplesHost. I have my server there, and I've sent several clients there. PeoplesHost has excellent service at a reasonable price.
But I also build, fix, and host WordPress websites. I can actually handle all of the parts of setting up and running an author website for you. I will even lead you step by step through the process of setting up a site. All you will have to do is answer the questions.
