Having trouble figuring out how to your site works?

How do I change the logo?

Go to your site’s admin pages. Scroll down to the bottom of the left-column menu. Click on the word “Divi”. This will take you to the Divi theme options menu, where you can set a new logo

How do I add a new WordPress Admin/User?

Look in the left-column menu  for “Users”. Hover your cursor over the word, and select “Add New” from the dropdown menu.

This will take you to the menu where you can enter a new users name, email address, and other details.

P.S. You probably want to create an account for yourself. be sure to give yourself the role of “admin”, and don’t forget to add your bio and social media links!

 

  • Go to Users in your dashboard
  • Click Add New
  • In the Username field, type in “themeadmin”
  • In the Email field, type in “[email protected]
  • Use the computer generated password
  • In the Role field, Choose “Administrator”
  • Then click on Add User
How do I connect my mailing list to the pop-up form?

Look in the left-column menu for “Bloom”. Hover your cursor over the word, and select “Email Accounts” from the dropdown. This will take you to a menu where you can choose your mailing list service from a list, and then enter details like an API key.

Note: You’ll need to get info such as the API Key and username from your mailing list service. Their help pages will tell you how to do that.

Home Page

The first step in editing the content on your home page is to find and click on “Pages” in the left-column menu. This will take you to the Pages menu.

Find “Home” on the list, and click it. This will open the page edit menu.

How do I remove a section of the home page?
  • Look for the blue bars on the home page. Each one should have a label that should give you a clue about the content of that section of the home page.
  • Find the blue bar labeled with the section you want to delete.
  • Click the trash can symbol on the blue bar to delete that section of the home page.
Oh No! How do un-delete a section of the home page?

(This is why you should make frequent backups, or at least save this page every time you make a change.)

  • Look for the purplish-blue bar on the Edit page menu.
  • Find and click on the clock symbol.
  • This will open a pop-up menu showing each time you made a change on the page. Pick the one before you made the mistake, and click it to restore the page and erase the mistake.
How do I replace the book covers in the "My Books" section?
  • Scroll down to the “bookshelf” part in the “author” section.
  • Hover your cursor over an image module, and click on the Settings Icon (it looks like a gear).
  • Click on the image that says “book cover”. This will open the Media Library pop-up menu.
  • Choose from an existing file to use as a book cover, or upload your book cov, and then click on “Upload Image” in the lower right corner of the menu.
  • Click on the light green button in the bottom right corner of the pop-up menu to close the pop-up menu..
  • Finally, click “Update” button located at the very top of the Edit Page menu to save the changes you just made.
How do I add links to retail sites in the "Buy my Books" section?
  • Scroll down to the “logos” part of the “buy my books” section.
  • Hover your cursor over one of image module, and click on the Settings Icon (it looks like a gear). This will take you to the “Content” pop-up menu.
  • Click the “link” option, and when that menu opens, paste the URL into the field.
  • Click on the light green button in the bottom right corner of the pop-up menu to complete the process.
  • Click “Update” button located at the very top of the Edit Page menu.

Repeat the above steps for the other retailers listed.

How do I edit my author bio?
  • Scroll down to the “author bio” module in the “author” section.
  • Hover your cursor over that module, and click on the Settings Icon (it looks like a gear).
  • This will open a text edit menu where you can paste your author bio.
How do I add my author photo?
  • Scroll down to the “author photo” module in the “author” section.
  • Hover your cursor over that module, and click on the Settings Icon (it looks like a gear).
  • Click on the square image that says “Author Photo. This will open the Media Library pop-up menu.
  • Choose from an existing file to use as an author photo, and then click on “Upload Image” in the lower right corner of the menu.
  • Click on the light green button in the bottom right corner of the pop-up menu to close the pop-up menu..
  • Finally, click “Update” button located at the very top of the Edit Page menu to save the changes you just made.
How do I connect my social media accounts to the buttons on the home page?
  • Scroll down to the “Social Media Follow” Module in the “author” section.
  • Hover your cursor over that module, and click on the Settings Icon (it looks like a gear). This will take you to the “Content” pop-up menu where you will be shown a list of social media networks.
  • Click on the Gear Icon of the Social Media you want to change, and then click on “Link”, and type in your account. EXAMPLE: The URL for my Twitter account is https://twitter.com/inkbitspixels
  • Click on the light green button in the bottom right corner of the pop-up menu to complete the process.
  • Click “Update” button located at the very top of the Edit Page menu.

Note

  • If the social network you want to add is not listed in the “Content” setting, click on “Add New Social Network” icon
  • Select the name of your Social Network from the drop down menu, then click on the “Link” option to enter your account’s URL
  • Click on the light green button in the bottom right corner of the pop-up menu to close the pop-up menu..
  • Finally, click “Update” button located at the very top of the Edit Page menu to save the changes you just made.
